Swaraj Amrit Mahotsav : Bhavani Bharati - 30


Devanāgarī

कवे विलासिन् शृणु मातृवाक्यं कालीं करालीं भज पुत्र चण्डीम्।
द्रष्टासि वै भारतमातरं तां घ्नतीमरातीन् भृशमाजिमध्ये॥

Anvaya

[हे] कवे ! [हे] विलासिन् ! [हे] पुत्र ! मातृवाक्यं शृणु। कालीम्, करालीं चण्डीं भज। आजिमध्ये भृशम् अरातीन् ध्नतीं तां भारतमातरं [त्वं] वै द्रष्टासि।

Meaning

कवे! - kave - poet; विलासिन्! - vilāsin - lover; पुत्र! - putra - son; मातृवाक्यं - mātṛvākyaṁ - the word of the Mother; शृणु - śṛṇu - hear; कालीम् - kālīm - Kali; करालीं - karālīṁ - terrifying; चण्डीं - caṇḍīṁ - Ca??i; भज - bhaja - revere; आजिमध्ये - ājimadhye - in the midst of battle; भृशम् - bhṛśam - violently; अरातीन् - arātīn - enemies; घ्नतीं - ghnatīṁ - killing; तां - tāṁ - Her; भारतमातरं - bhāratamātaraṁ - the mother of the Bharatas; वै - vai - indeed; द्रष्टासि - draṣṭāsi - you shall see;

Sanskrit

हे कवे ! हे विलासिन् ! हे पुत्र ! मातृवाक्यं शृणु। कालीम्, करालीं चण्डीम् आराधय। घोरयुद्धमध्ये शत्रून् नाशयन्ती सा भारतमाता तव दृष्टिगोचरः भविष्यति।

English Interpretation

O poet and sensualist, hear the word of the Mother: adore Kali the Terrible, my son, the fierce Chandi. Verily you shall see her, the mother of the Bharatas, striking down her foes mightily in the thick of the fight.

Hindi

सुन, माँ के ये वचन विलासी कवि!
काली विकराली चंडी की पूजा कर,
तू देखेगा निश्चय ही भारतमाता को
जो घोर समर में ध्वंस कर रही होगी
अरियों के समूह का॥
