1. The question of erecting a statue of Swami Vivekananda on the Vivekananda Rock at Kanyakumari, has been engaging the attention of the Government for sometime past. Several representations have been received by the Government in this regard. The Government have carefully examined the question in consultation with the Collector of Kanyakumari and the members of the All India 'Swami Vivekananda Centenary Celebration and Rock Memorial Committee'. The Government have decided that a statue of Swami Vivekananda to be encased in a small building of a shrine type with a provision to accommodate about 12 persons to sit in meditation in front of the statue, may be erected on the Vivekananda Rock at Kanyakumari.
2. The site on the Vivekananda Rock selected by the Collector of Kanyakumari and indicated in the plan sent with his letter dated 20-3-1964 for the purpose is approved by the Government.
3. The Government also approve the proposals of the Vivekananda Centenary Celebration and Rock Memorial Committee for erecting the shrine of Swami Vivekananda on the site mentioned in para 2 above, in accordance with the plan of the drawing sent by the Centenary Committee in its letter dated 1- 9-1964. Approval of the Plan has been communicated separately. The Vivekananda Centenary Celebration and Rock Memorial Committee, Madras, is hereby permitted to undertake the construction of the shrine of Swami Vivekananda at its cost.
