नरास्थिमालां नृकपालकाञ्चीं वृकोदराक्षीं क्षुधितां दरिद्राम्।
पृष्ठे व्रणाङ्कामसुरप्रतोदैः सिंहीं नदन्तीमिव हन्तुकामाम्॥५॥
Anvaya
[अहं] नरास्थिमालाम्, नृकपालकाञ्चीम्, वृकोदराक्षीम्, क्षुधिताम्, दरिद्राम्, असुरप्रतोदैः पृष्ठे व्रणाङ्काम्, हन्तुकामाम्, नदन्तीं सिंहीम् इव [तां ददर्श]
Meaning
[अहं] नरास्थिमालाम् - [ahaṁ] narāsthimālām - garlanded with the bones of men; नृकपालकाञ्चीम् - nṛkapālakāñcīm - (and) girdled with human skulls; वृकोदराक्षीम् - vṛkodarākṣīm - (with) belly and eyes like a wolf's; क्षुधिताम् - kṣudhitām - hungry; दरिद्राम् - daridrām - (and) poor; असुरप्रतोदैः - asurapratodaiḥ - by the Titan's lashes; पृष्ठे - pṛṣṭhe - on her back; व्रणाङ्काम् - vraṇāṅkām - scarred; हन्तुकामाम् - hantukāmām - lusts for kill; नदन्तीं - nadantīṁ - roaring; सिंहीम् इव - siṁhīm iva - like a lioness; [तां ददर्श] - [tāṁ dadarśa] - ('thus did I see the Mother);
Sanskrit
ग्रीवायां नरस्थिमालां कटौ च नृमुण्डमेखलां धारयन्ती, वृकोदराक्षी, क्षुधिता, दरिद्रा, असुरस्य कशाधातैः पृष्ठे क्षतविक्षता, हन्तुकामा, गर्जन्ती सिंही इव सा मम दृष्टिगोचरः अभवत्।
English Interpretation
Garlanded with the bones of men and girdled with human skulls, with belly and eyes like a wolf's, hungry and poor, scarred on her back by the Titan's lashes, roaring like a lioness who lusts for kill [...thus did I see the Mother].

अस्थिहार पहने थी वह,नरमुंडों की मेखला कमर में,
आँखें वृकोदरी सी उसकी,भूखी थी वह माँ दरिद्र थी,
असुरों के आघातों से घावों के चिन्ह पीठ पर थे,
सिंहिनी गरजती हुई मारकर खा जाने को लगती थी॥
