Swami Vivekananda says in The East and the West:
"The Hindu says that political and social independence is well and good, but the real thing is spiritual independence Mukti. This is our national purpose; the Vedic, the Jaina, the Bouddha, the Adwaita, the Vishishtadwaita, or the Dwaita, all are united there. Leave that point untouched and do whatever you like, the Hindu says nothing. Take everything he has, treat him most badly, call him, a nigger or any name, he does not care; only keep safe his gate of religion. ....Now let us understand where is the soul of this giant; it is in religion. Because no one was able to destroy that, the nation is still living in the face of so ,many troubles . ...... If our national life of these thousands of years has been a mistake, there is no help for it and if we try now to form it new character, we shall only die....... ...The life of this nation is religion, its language religion, and its idea religion."
Swami Vivekananda's this concept we see in Gitanjali in the expression of Sri Rabindra Nath Tagore :
The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life. And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.
