Samarth Bharat Parva - Kalpana K

If there is any land on this earth that can lay claim to be the blessed Punya Bhumi, to be the land to which all souls on this earth must come to account for Karma, the land to which every soul that is wending its way Godward must come to attain its last home, the land where humanity has attained its highest towards gentleness, towards generosity, towards purity, towards calmness, above all, the land of introspection and of spirituality — it is India.

Kalpana K i.e. Kalpana Kalahasti became known to the country after the successful flight of Chandrayaan 3. During the launch of Chandrayaan 3, Beside ISRO chief S.Somnath, many of us saw there was a woman present as Project Associate Director, Kalpanka K, the scientist of today.

Kalpana K was born in Bangalore. She completed her schooling in Bangalore and then completed her graduation in Aeronautical Engineering from IIT Khadakpur. Her father was an employee of the High Court, while her mother was a housemother. Kalpana K dreamed of working in ISRO since childhood. She fulfilled her dream with determination, hard work and perseverance. She joined ISRO as a scientist in 2003. First she worked in Sriharikota for five years and then in 2005 She was transferred to the satellite center in Bangalore. She participated in the design of five satellites there.

Kalpana K was also involved in the Chandrayaan-2 project which was launched from the rocket center in Sriharikota in 2019. She also played an important role in the Chandrayaan-2 mission. And currently she is working as Associate Director of Chandrayaan-3 project. The entire world has experienced the joy on her face when Chandrayaan 3 successfully flew. When any mission is successful, the working scientists are definitely more than happy. She is unique in that she is constantly engaged in overcoming the numerous difficulties encountered while working on the mission.

After the success of Chandrayaan 3 mission, Kalpana K as Associate Project Director said, "This is the most memorable moment for me and my team, we have been striving for this for many years and we have achieved our goal." Her journey to the success of Chandrayaan-3 mission is an inspiration to everyone.

It usually takes more than five years to build a satellite. First the design, then the rest of the process takes place. After all this is done, several tests are to be done. It is then re-tested and attached to the rocket for trials, followed by satellite flight. Her expertise in designing and optimizing the lunar lander system has been instrumental in overcoming many challenges during the Chandrayaan-3 project.

After the rover's successful landing on the lunar surface, the entire nation witnessed the joy on her face while addressing the team. This monumental achievement not only strengthens India's position in the global space community but also highlights the exemplary contribution of the dedicated individuals who made this feat possible. Kalpana K with her team made the journey successful with determination and hard work. We wish 'Team ISRO' all the best for their future endeavors.
