In the Prarthana, Mananeeya Eknathji tells us as to how to remain in the Dhyeyamarganuyatra and still keep progressing. Prarthna says :
Always by our renunciation, service and Atmabodha let the difficulties on our path be removed.
What does it mean? Here the word used is Vihata - a special way removed - means the difficulties are not just removed but in a special way removed. It means the difficulties; obstacles are transformed into opportunities. The challenges, the threats and the discouragement workers face in their life will determine and enhance their strength and their growth. If we fight against ants we become as strong as ants. But if we battle against elephants we become as mighty as elephants themselves. We use this principle in gymnasium for developing Bahubala. We ask for resistance so that our biceps and triceps will develop. In life, we can develop Intelligence, strength of mind and strength of the character only when we wrestle with the difficulties. Mananeeya Eknathji used to say that each one of us has a special gear, as provided in a jeep, to climb the mountain of difficulties.
When Vivekananda Rock Memorial Committee undertook the erection of the Memorial to Vivekananda in Kanyakumari, there was strong opposition. But then the committee tried to grow larger than these hurdles. With Eknathji on the scene, bigger the hurdle, bigger became the dimension of the Memorial. Rock Memorial as we see today has emerged out of the efforts of these heroic efforts. If on the one hand, had there been no opposition, then the small edifice costing of six lakhs that was initially proposed would have been in the place of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. It is because of the opposition that the magnificent Rock Memorial came to be constructed creating in the process an All India network of well-wishers. For the intelligent and dedicated, hurdles, delays and oppositions come as an opportunity goading them into greater and more heroic efforts. Challenges kill men of weak effort and untested will. To those with dedication and strong will challenges are but stepping-stones.
